Day 95: A song in the 1930's

The Nearness of You
By Norah Jones

Nearness of You is a revival song by Norah Jones on her album Come Away With Me. Originally the song was written in 1938 and was featured in the film Romance in the Dark starring John Barrymore and John Boles. It was originally sung by Ray Eberle in the same year it was composed.  Norah Jones sang it live on October 2011 at the Steve Jobs Memorial/Celebration of Life at the Apple, Inc. corporate headquarters.

It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me
Oh no, it's just the nearness of you

It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation
Oh no, it's just the nearness of you

When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams came true

I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you will only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
