freedom of expressing myself! |
FREEDOM is the quality or state of being free. It is being independent, having your own choice or will.
Knowing all these meaning can we say that we are free? Do we have freedom? Free in all sense, possessing freedom in all aspects. I think so; it's just that we are not aware that we are free. That we are in that state.
Many times during our adolescent stage we thought of being free. We thought that we are restricted in so many ways, in so many things and actions. Because we want to do things, experience events, matters, and affairs according to our will. We were so in a hurry. Little did we know that we were free in a sense that we are privileged of being restricted from all these because it will just hurt us and cause us pain.
As we move on to our lives we became adults, and then we thought that in this stage we are free. We are free and able to do the things we want, free to do the things that has been guarded before. Yes we have done it! We have hurt, we have experienced pain and we enjoyed. But it seems we still feel that we are not free at all. Freedom has not been of hold. Because we crave for more, we search not only for freedom but also for our own happiness. we thought that being free could make us happy. Not knowing that there are other things in life, which could make us happy. And little did we know that other's happiness; other's freedom could be ours too at the same time.
And as we grow older we continue to seek for freedom. Not knowing that we've been freed all along. It was just a matter of choice; we chose not to be free, because we were preoccupied of having our freedom. We are not contented of all the things, matters, affairs, events and incidents that came into our life. We keep on looking, wanting for more of what we have, not recognizing that we had more of what we thought of.
Being free could also make us tend to loose ourselves from reality, we tend to think only for ourselves, we tend to take advantage of things, not knowing that we hurt, we pained, and we restrict other's happiness for our own sake. That's the time we have to be guarded, be restricted, and be confined. Being free also has its responsibilities, not just for yourself but above all, your surroundings.
Now, I have come up with my conclusion that being free, possesing freedom is not just being independent, having your own choice, your own rights, or being outspoken and frank, it is not plain and simple as that. Along with the definitions of Mr.Webster, we also have to consider the people around us and their feelings. We should be responsible of our freedom, responsible enough not just to think of our own self but of others too. It is being contented, and then we can say that we are FREE.
